Family

Family doesn't have to be blood relatives because sometimes friends care about you more than some of your family.  In Barbra Kingsolver's essay she says "Families change, and remain the same"(Kingsolber,2). This means that just because maybe your parents got divorced or someone past away doesn't mean that your family has change in a bad way it could make your family closer in a way. Kingsolver also says" Divorce, remarriage, single parenthood, gay parents and blended families simply one. They are facts of our time"(kingsolver, 16). This shows how times have changed because back in the day divorce was shunned soon and today it is pretty normal as long with gay and blended families. Today people are married much longer than the olden days because they were only married for 12 years, today people are married for twice of triple that. Also in the book A Tree Grows in Brooklyn there is a family who is extremely poor, that loves each other very much. Johnny is an alcoholic which later in the book cause him to pass away.  In the book Johnny gave Francie a card for graduation event tho he is dead to show who much he loves her and to do this he gave aunt sissy a card and $2 to buy roses a year before he died just to make sure she got them. In the book it says "For Francie on her graduation day. Love from Papa"(smith, 351). Later on in the book it says "Johnny celebrated his sons birth by getting drunk for 3 days"(smith, 98). Even tho this is not the best way to celebrate he did to show his love for his kids and how much he loves them. Family to me is always the for u in your worst and best times , but friends aren't always there for you when you need them the most. That's why family is everything to me.
